There are two common types of iguanas in South Florida and both are not supposed to be here. The Green Iguana, Iguana iguana, and the Spiny Tailed Iguana, Ctenosaura similis. These invasive lizards eat native plants and animals, damaging our Florida ecosystem. They also do thousands of dollar of damage to property owned by Floridians.

GREEN
IGUANA
Green Iguanas (Iguana iguana) are from South America, not Florida. They are vegetarians with an adaptable diet. Green Iguanas prefer to live in trees. They retreat to shady spots during the hottest parts of the day, and emerge to eat when temperatures are ideal. We have learned their behavior, at Florida Iguana Solutions, to ensure we are efficient in removing your problematic iguanas.

SPINY-TAILED
iguana
Black Spiny-tailed iguanas, Ctenosaura similis, are from Central America, such as Guatamala, Honduras, and southern Mexico. Unlike their green cousins, Spiny-tailed iguanas eat meat. They will eat lizards, mice, and other small animals they can catch. They prefer to live in rocky holes, tree hollows, or burrows they have dug. If cornered, they will turn and bite, so watch out if you have one on your property! Call Florida Iguana Solultions to have this aggressive lizard removed.
